作品說明 Introduction
Somniferum，取自罌粟學名，有催眠的意思；同時也來自羅馬神話中的睡神Somnus。作為我一直進行的寫詩計畫《淺眠與詩》的實體書裝幀實驗，選用十五首有關夢境與睡眠的短詩，是一本小於手掌，便於攜帶，能隨時隨地伴你入夢的詩集。
封面使用透明墨，移動這本詩集或是光線變化時將顯現它的名字。內頁則是挑選兩種紙材進行縫製：可透光膠片及霧霜描圖紙，用來表現清醒與夢境的區別。目錄以經摺霧霜描圖紙的方式製作，並放入膠片中，因此可透過膠片看見每首詩的題目，同時也能從中抽出目錄，構成另一首短詩。內容則是一台（40頁）一首詩，用霧霜描圖紙印刷不同程度的灰階色彩，來顯現字句的輕重以及動態感。
Somniferem, derived from the scientific name of the poppy, carries the meaning of inducing sleep; it also echoes Somnus, the Roman god of slumber. This poetry collection is a bookbinding experiment within my ongoing writing project, “Light Sleep with Poetry.” It brings together fifteen short poems on dreams and sleep, forming a palm-sized volume that is easy to carry—one that can accompany you anytime, anywhere, as you drift into dreams.
